A plain tower built next to a perimeter wall in the 11 century, it was embellished over the centuries by new constructions within the enclosed space. Catherine of Challant, claiming by armed struggle the inheritance of her father Count Francesco, reinforced the castle's defences and lived there with her husband Pierre d'Introd in the middle of the fifteenth century.
